Titans beat Lancers

It feels good to be back home! The Syracuse Titans (3-6-1, 2-3-0) defeated the Granger Lancers (1-8-1, 0-5-1) Thursday afternoon by a score of 7-0. The Titans, after being on the road for the last 4 games finally played their region home opener in front of their Syracuse fans on the hill and on their home field.

It was Kylie Johnson’s left foot that led all Titan scorers as she recorded a hat trick on the day. (29′, 41′, 69′ – 1st 3 goals of the season). It was the first hat trick for the Titans since Kylie Harris’ one year ago. KJ is the 3rd Titan with a hat trick & 4th hat trick overall in school history! Johnson’s second goal is the 250th goal in school history. Congrats Kylie!

Anne Petersen had the game winning goal (5th goal of 2016, 2nd GWG of 2016) in the 3rd minute of the game to get the Titans rolling early. Ashlyn Hall had a goal & 2 assists  (44′ – 3rd of season), it was also a goal & 2 assists for Adriana Owen  (78′ – 2nd goal of 2016). Abby Hall completed the scoring for the Titans with the center backs first career goal in the 76′ minute.

Statistically the Titans outpaced Granger in every category. Total Shots 56 – 1 (both school records for most shot in a game, and least shots allowed in a game), shots on goal 27 – 0, corner kicks 8-1, fouls 9-3, and offsides 4-0.

team-grangerIt was a quiet night for GK Gabby Segura who earned the shutout (2nd season, 7th career) and the win (3rd season, 14th career).

Prep team had a great and quick game in a dominating 12-0 win in 50 minutes of play. Scoring came from all over the field for the Titans. Lauren Burnett provided the hat trick for JV (first 3 goals of 2016) & an assist. Riley King followed up with a brace (first 2 of 2016). Others that found the back of the net were Kenadee Arigot (first of 2016), Taylor Tesch (5th of 2016), Lexi Chenoweth (2nd of 2016), Whitney Carlson (2nd of 2016) + an assist, Jordan Stimpson (1st of season), Madi Dee (2nd of season) + an assist, and Madi Yamshita (5th of season) + an assist. Kloe Swallow added an assist on the game.

Next up for Syracuse is the Hunter Wolverines (1-5-3, 0-4-1). Hunter visits Titan Field Tuesday September 13th at 3:30 pm. This will be the last game for the first half of the region schedule.
