It was a hot and fast turf Wednesday night on the DHHS football field in St. George, Ut as the visiting Syracuse Titans (3-0-0) defeated the host Desert Hills Thunder (2-2-0).
The Thunder got on the board first from a Syracuse error, but it was Freshman Caroline Stringfellow who helped SHS respond 4 minutes later with the equalizer (4th goal season) assisted by Kenadee Arigot (2nd season, 7th career). In the second half Ashlyn Hall (2nd assist season, 10th career) found Lauren Burnett at the top of the 18 for her first career game winning goal (2nd goal of season).
Desert Hills pushed the pressure on the Titans all night in the St. George heat. The Titans outshot the Thunder 19-5. Cuse also led shots on frame 11-3. Each team received a yellow card and the home team led on corner kicks 4-3. Gabby Segura earned her 21st career win in net.
For the Prep team Freshmen Geneveive Gotschall helped keep the prep team perfect on the season (3-0-0) with a 1-0 victory. Gotschall put in her JV leading 5th goal of the season.
The Titans stay in St. George and play the Pine View Panthers (0-1-0) tonight, Thursday August 17, at 7:30 pm. Prep team at 5:30.
