Darts win with OT corner kick PK

In a great back and forth game Thursday night at the Davis High football stadium, it was the home Davis Darts (7-4-1, 5-3-1) who got the over time victory 2-1 over the Syracuse Titans (12-2-0, 8-2-0).

In the 20th minute Freshman Caroline Stringfellow put the Titans on the board first with her team leading 21st goal of the season. In the 34′ it was the Darts who equalized which would hold for the rest of regular time.

In overtime, it was a back and forth affair, with the Titans missing two open shots on goal and defender Abbie Riley having to clear the ball off of the Titan goal line. In a controversial call, the head official called a pk during stoppage time of the first overtime, off a Davis corner kick, ending the game in favor of the darts 2-1.

The Titans outshot the Darts 18-11, 10-6 on frame as well. Corner kicks were in favor of Davis and offsides in favor for the Titans.

In the first game of the day the prep team (9-4-1, 5-4-1) defeated the Davis JV squad by a score of 2-0. Goals were put in by Freshman Virginia Wallace (3rd goal season) and Junior Taylor Tesch (4th goal season). Sophomore Kaycee Kohler earned the shutout in net.

The loss sets up an exciting rematch with the Layton Lancers (7-4-1, 5-2-1). The game will be at Titan field on Thursday at 3:30 pm. After the game the 5 seniors on the team will be honored. Coach Allen invites the entire Syracuse and surrounding communities to come out to the game, pack the hill and be rowdy!
