
The Syracuse Titans (13-2-0, 9-2-0) not only avenged their first loss of the 2017 campaign, but also clinched the region title with a 4-1 victory over the Layton Lancers (8-5-1, 6-3-1) Thursday afternoon.
Junior Lexi Chenoweth had a coming out party as she had the brace on the day, and her first two goals of the season/career. Sophomore Ashlyn Hall also had the brace for the Titans to complete the victory (15th/16th season, 34 career).
Assists on the day were provided by three from Junior Lauren Burnett (3rd, 4th, 5th season/career), Freshman Caroline Stringfellow with two (a season school record 22nd,23rd season/career) and one from Senior Kenadee Arigot (7th season, 12th career).
The Titans out shot the Lancers 18-13, on goal as well 9-5. Senior Goalkeeper Gabby Segura collected 4 saves on the night and completed her school leading 31st career win.
The Syracuse Prep team (9-4-2, 5-4-2) tied the Layton JV team 1-1. Junior Whitney Carlson put in her second JV goal of the season to help the prep team get the point.
The Titans clinched their first region title in school history, with one game to go in the regular season. Along with the region championship the Titans also clinched the #1 seed

from Region 1 for the 6A playoffs. The Titans own home field and will host the first playoff game at Titan field on Tuesday October 10th. This will be a school record 3rd straight season the Titans have qualified for the playoffs and also the first time in school history a playoff game will be hosted at Syracuse High.
Next up for the Titans is a bye on Tuesday. They will next compete on Thursday October 5th in Plain City against the Fremont Silverwolves (6-5-3, 5-4-1) at 3:30 pm.
