Titans shut out Fremont in prep for playoffs. Wynn sets record

The Syracuse Titans (14-2-0, 10-2-0) girls soccer team defeated the home Fremont Silverwolves (7-6-2, 6-5-1) by a score of 3-0 in Plain City on Thursday afternoon.

Freshman forward Sarah Wynn

(10th,11th,12th goals of season/career)! She is the third freshman in school history to do so and recorded the 12th hat trick in school history. Wynn also set a new school record by recording the fastest goal in school history exactly 60 seconds into the game. It was Sarah’s first career game winning goal.

Assists on the day were provided by Caroline Stringfellow with 2 (24th, 25th season/career), Ashlyn Hall (16th season, 24th career), Lauren Burnett (6th season/career) and Senior Gabby Segura had her first career assist.

Syracuse beat Fremont with on goal shots 11-7. Corner kicks were in favor of the home team 5-6, with offsides in favor of the Titans 1-4.

 

Senior goal keeper Gabby Segura recorded the shutout (5th season, 15th career). Led by a stout defense of Junior Savannah Allen, Junior Porter Brown, Sophomore Kelsey Steed, Senior Abbie Riley and Sophomore Jenna Kelly. It was Segura’s 32nd career win.

The prep team (9-5-2, 5-5-2) finished the season with a 0-4 loss to the Fremont JV team.

Up next for the Titans is the UHSAA 6A Playoffs. They are the host #1 seed in the first round and will have a rematch with the #4 seed West Jordan Jaguars (4-12-0, 3-9-0). The game will be played Tuesday October 10th at 4 pm on Titan Field. Coach Allen invites the Syracuse community to rally behind this great group of girls and pack the hill Tuesday!
