Titans win big in semifinals!

The Syracuse Titans (17-2-0, 10-2-0) defeated the Bingham Miners (10-9-0, 5-7-0) by a score of 4-1 in the 6A state semi finals Tuesday morning at Juan Diego high school, the win pushed the program to their first ever state championship title game appearance.

the 19th minute (7th goal season/career). Three minutes later Sophomore Ashlyn Hall kept the designated home team rolling putting in her 21st goal this year, also her 8th game winning goal of the season and 10th career.

After halftime, Hall led the charge again getting the brace in the 46′ on a beautiful shot from the top of the 18 (22nd goal season, 40th career). Freshman Caroline Stringfellow continued her scoring streak putting the final touches on the game with a goal in the 75′ to seal the victory and help punch the Titans ticket to the championship game.

Assists on the day were provided by Hall with two (22 season/30 career), Stringfellow with two (32 season/career), and Junior Lexi Chenoweth provided 2 as well (8 season/career).

Senior goal keeper Gabby Segura stood on her head in net, recording 10 saves on the day, including a critical double save in the second half. The win was Segura’s 35th career victory. Once again the Titans continued to play stout defense. The back line lead by Kelsey Steed, Porter Brown, Savannah Allen, Abbie Riley, Kenadee Arigot and Jenna Kelly held the Miners to 1 goal on the day.

Next up in the final game of the season, the Titans will take on the American Fork Cavemen (18-1-0, 11-1-0) in the 6A State title game. The first title game appearance in history for both teams. The game will be played at Rio Tinto stadium home of Real Salt Lake at 2 pm on Friday October 20th. The theme is Titan Gear! Coach Allen wants to invite the entire Syracuse community to the game, we had a fantastic crowd at the game in the semis and expect an even bigger crowd to support our girls on Friday!
