Player Meeting Recap

It was great seeing such a packed room and seeing all the girls old and new back together again. There was lots of excitement and smiling faces!

With District Qualifying Track and Field and other busy events going on I wanted to take a second and recap some of the quick things we went over in the Tryout Meeting for the 2018 season.

A few items from Coach Allen.

Work Ethic – I believe very few things in life replace the ability to work hard, especially the ability to grind day in and day out. It’s easy for someone to work hard for a week, but show me an athlete that can reprove themselves over six months on a daily basis in anything they do. Those that work hard generally have great attitudes, high character, are committed and have great skill because of their work ethic. That being said girls that struggle in their work ethic usually complain, struggle in their commitment and their skill lacks.

Attitude – No Dissension, be a part of the program, buy into the program and do what is asked of you. I promise if you do everything that is asked you will be a better person. Teenagers tend to sway towards negativity, I hear it all day long in the high school. Be positive in all that you, don’t speak negatively of your team, peers, coaches, parents or leaders.  Your voice will eventually persuade your actual perception. There is no room for negativity! Eliminate it from your lives.

Character– Be a good person and always be doing good things, always!

Commitment – Be all in, it’s time to be a Titan! Invest yourself into the team all summer, make yourself a part of the program. Come to workouts and communicate effectively the times that you will miss. Be committed to the small details that will make you a better soccer player. Footwork is one of the greatest areas lacking for many soccer players, yet is the easiest to master at home, with no need for a field or net even.

Be selfless, be a leader and be devoted, even as a young freshmen you can chose to do this.

I will put a second post together soon about summer conditioning with every specific date/detail.

Tryouts will be as follow

Day 1 – July 30th: 8 am jr/sr (+ returning starters) and 11 am so/fr (1st cuts will be posted by 5 pm)
Day 2 – July 31st: 7 am all grades 2 mile run. 8 am combined all ages (2nd cuts will be posted by 5 pm)
Day 3 – Aug. 1st: Combined tbd/if necessary

All girls will be required to bring/wear their tryout # (provided by Coach Allen @ lifting or tryouts if needed), cleats, shin guards, running shoes, water and a wear white tee. Parents this is a closed tryout. Yes that even means from 500 yards away. Drop your daughter off and let her perform to the best of her ability. There is already enough pressure sans parents.

Prior to tryouts all girls need to do 2 things.

  1. They will need to register online for a tryout # here. (Beginning in July)
  2. You will also need to go onto www.registermyathlete.com and create a profile to be able to tryout. If you were on the team last year you will just need to add the ’18-’19 season once the school year is over.

To get summer soccer information, please Text the code @a8ka4c to phone number 81010 to receive messages from Coach Allen. This is a new code for 2018 girls soccer summer conditioning so if you were on the list last summer or on the team list last season you will need to join this one as well.

We also invite you to go like our social media pages for up to date information on our program. FacebookInstagram and Twitter.

We look forward to what looks to be an exciting and outstanding summer and fall, kicked off with our annual team preseason trip to St. George.

Attached below is the handout from the meeting and please contact Coach Allen by email with any questions or concerns to taallen@dsdmail.net (notice the 2 a’s).

Please take a minute to go check out the various aspects of the program on the website, check out the record bookseason finisheshead to head matchupsAll-State Recipientsnext years schedule and much more. Get to know your 2018 coaching staff Head Coach Taylor Allen, and Assistant Coaches Troy Brown and Anne Petersen. The coaches are excited about the strides the program has made in the last 3 years and look forward to the challenge of protecting a Region title and competing with the best teams in the state. We are looking to attract girls that are winners on and off the pitch, and girls that want to compete every single day.
