Titans open season strong!

 

In a rematch of last years 6A state playoff first round, the visiting Syracuse Titans (1-0-0, 0-0-0) defeated the West Jordan Jaguars (0-1-0, 0-0-0) in a fifty minute mercy rule by the score of 8-0.

BYU commit Sophomore Caroline Stringfellow continued her incredible 2017 freshman campaign with a strong start to the 2018 season. She led the Titans on the day with her fourth career hat trick (3 goals on the season, 32 Career). Senior Lauren Burnett added the brace (2 season, 9 career) for Syracuse, with individual tallies also coming from Senior Lexi Chenoweth (1 season, 3 career), Sophomore Sarah Wynn (1 season, 14 career) and Freshman Claire Colquitt provided her first career goal and assist to the game. This is the third year in a row that a Titan Frosh has scored in a season opener (Ashlyn Hall – ‘16, Stringfellow & Wynn ‘17).

Center back Kelsey Steed led assists in the day with 2 (2 season, 6 career). Other assists were provided by Hall (1 season, 31 career), Stringfellow (1 season, 33 career) Colquitt (1 season, 1 career) and Senior Defender Savannah Allen (1 season, 10 career). Briget Wallace and Brooklyn Stringfellow split the shutout in net.

A school record 21 players helped achieve the varsity win. The Titans now sit 3-0 all time against the Jaguars.

JV (1-0-0, 0-0-0) also mercy ruled West Jordan by a score of 8-0. 7 different girls scored led by the brace from Genevieve Gotschall. Other scorers were Madi Dee, Virginia Wallace, Lexi Paulsen, Tatem Williams, Mia Hammond, and Kira Page.  Assists on the day came from Jaycee Page (2), Wallace, Hammond and Jordan Stimpson.

Syracuse will turn their attentiom to the Ogden Tigers in their home opener on Thursday. The Tigers (1-0-0, 0-0-0) defeated the Mtn Crest Mustangs yesterday by a score of 2-1. In the only meeting between the two teams (2016 Ogden Cup) the Tigers defeated the Titans by a score of 2-1. The game will be held at Titan Field st 3:30 pm with JV to follow.
