Cuse conquers Dixie

The Titans hit the road early Tuesday morning for their annual team trip to the red rock region of Utah. In the first ever meeting between the two schools the visiting Titans (3-0-0, 0-0-0), continued their undefeated season with a victory over the Dixie Flyers (0-3-0, 0-0-0).

The game was moved to the local Virgin River soccer fields due to damage from flash flooding at the Dixie high soccer fields. It was a gorgeous evening at the complex as the Titans beat the Flyers by a score of 7-1. IMG_2550

Junior striker Ashlyn Hall started the scoring in the 7′ off a Sarah Wynn cross, her first of two goals in the game (3rd/4th season, 44 career goals*). The flyers tied up the game at 1-1 off of a defensive error but sophomore Caroline Stringfellow continued to lead the 6A classification in scoring with a brace as well in the 18′ and 20′ (5th/6th season, 35 Career) to help the Titans go ahead for good. Stringfellow’s game winning goal was her first of the young season and her 5th career.

Other scorers on the day were Freshman Claire Colquitt (2nd season/career), Sophomore Sarah Wynn (2nd season, 15th career), and Senior Adriana Owen (1st season, 3rd career).

Sarah Wynn really had a day offensively with 4 assists (5 season, 16 career). Other assists were provided  by Caroline Stringfellow with two assists (3 season, 35 career*), Gabrielle Bugtong (1st season, 2nd career) and Lauren Burnett with two (2 on the season, 8 career).

JV playing first on the day, lost to the Dixie JV squad 0-3.

Tomorrow the Titans have a quick turnaround and play the Desert Hills Thunder (1-2-1, 0-0-0), JV at 5 pm and Varsity at 7 pm on the DHHS Football field. The Titans lead the overall series against the the Thunder 2-0-1 in what is always an incredibly close match up.
