The Syracuse Titans (7-0-0, 3-0-0) defeated the fiesty Weber Warriors (4-3-0, 2-1-0) at home Thursday by a score of 2-0 in a hard fought region battle.

Sophomore Caroline Stringfellow, who leads the 6A classification in scoring, played an early give and go with Lauren Burnett for her 10th goal of the season (39th career). It was Burnett’s 3rd assist of the season (9th career). For Stringfellow it was her second game wining goal of the season, 6th career.
In the second half Sophomore Genevieve Gotschall’s header got the Titans on the board off of a corner kick from Junior Ashlyn Hall. Gotschall recorded her 1st goal of the season (2nd career). The junior Hall got her 3rd assist of the season (33rd career).
The goalkeeper and back line for the Titans continues to play stellar. Brooklyn Stringfellow stood on her head to earn the clean sheet (3.5 season/career). Including stuffing two Warrior breakaways in the first half. The backline of Porter Brown, Jenna Kelly, Kelsey Steed, Baylee Sanders and Madi Dee helped to earn the 6th shutout of the season, tying a school record.
It was the 20th meeting between the two schools and the 5th victory for the Titans, including 3 straight in the series. Their last loss to the Warriors was a 5A state playoff opening round game in 2015, when the two teams were in separate regions.
JV (4-2-1, 1-0-1) had a great game as well, overcoming an early 1 goal deficit to get the

victory 2-1. Sophomore Courtnee Wright finally found the back of the net after spending the preseason recovering from an injury. Wright had the brace in the victory for the Titans, her first two goals of the season.
Next up for the Titans are the Davis Darts (4-1-0, 1-1-0) who are coming off of their bye. Davis, and Layton, are the two longest standing series in school history to play the Titans. The two teams have met Syracuse every single season since the schools inception 12 years ago. This will be the 23rd meeting among the two schools, Syracuse’s lone win in the series vs the darts came last season in a 2-1 victory at home. The two teams battled to an OT loss on a PK in the second meeting on the region turnaround in 2017. The game will be played Thursday 8/30, 3:30 pm at the Angel Street Soccer Complex.
