The Syracuse Titans (8-0-0, 4-0-0) went on the road Thursday afternoon and defeated the Davis Darts (4-2-0, 1-2-0) by a score of 2-1. This was the first road win for the Titans on Davis’ home field in school history. It took 12 attempts but the Titans continue to achieve great things. Davis has historically dominated the series, with the Titans only winning 2 of 23 meetings. ‘Cuse has now won 2 of the last 3 meetings between the two teams.
For the first time all season the Titans found themselves down a goal in the first half.

After multiple Titan miscues the Darts found pay dirt 45 seconds into the game. The visitors remained calm and immediately attacked the opposition. Freshman Claire Colquitt and Sophomore Caroline Stringfellow both narrowly missed open net opportunities to level the match.
In the 20′ Stringfellow found Junior Ashlyn Hall for the equalizing goal. Hall’s 10th goal of the season (50th career). Stringfellow continues to be the SHS career assist leader netting her 39th career assist, her 7th of the 2018 campaign.
In the second half Senior Lauren Burnett placed a perfect ball for Stringfellow as she netted her team leading (6A leader as well) 11th goal of the season (40th career). It was the sophomores 3rd game winning goal of the season and 7th of her career. Burnett recorded her 4th assist of the season (10th career).
The Titans outshot the Darts 15-11, had more corner kicks 7-3, less fouls 3-11 and less yellow cards 0-3. After the first minute folly, defenders Porter Brown, Jenna Kelly, Baylee Sanders, Kelsey Steed, and Madi Dee kept the net cleared for the next 81 minutes. Senior Goal keeper Briget Wallace had 7 saves on the day, including 2 critical one vs one stops to help secure her 4th victory of the season/career.
The Syracuse JV (4-3-1, 2-1-1) couldn’t hold on to a late lead and lost 2-1. Junior Jordan Stimpson recorded her first assist of the season and Sophomore Courtnee Wright recorded her first assist of the season.

Next up the Titans will host the Layton Lancers (6-1-0, 3-0-0) who currently sit undefeated in region. The game will be played at Titan field Tuesday Septemeber 4th @ 3:30 pm. This will be the 23rd meeting between the two schools (Lancers lead overall 17-5), with the two schools splitting the series last season. Each team getting a victory on their home pitch.
