The Syracuse Titans (10-0-0, 6-0-0) went on the road Tuesday afternoon defeating the home Fremont Silverwolves (2-6-1, 1-4-1) by a score of 3-0.
The win secured the 7th shutout of the season for the Titan defense. Breaking the school record of 6 (in a season) set by the 2017 squad. (Check out all the records under History, Season Records in the menu) It was a total team effort in the win, with the Titans dominating possession for the match. Despite the advantage, late in the second half, the Titans found themselves at 0’s on the scoreboard.

Sophomore Caroline Stringfellow found her 6A classification leading, 12th goal of the season (4th game winning goal of the season) off of passes from Junior Ashlyn Hall (5th assist of the season, 35th career) and Sophomore Sarah Wynn to push the Titans ahead in the 77′. From there the Titans began to roll. Two minutes later Hall continued her great season by sending in a Wynn pass in for her 11th goal of the season (51st career). For Wynn it was her state leading 13th assist of the season (24th career).
Wynn capped off the scoring on the day in the 84′ with a goal from the top of the 18, Stringfellow provided the assist (10th season, 42nd career). The Titans outshot the home team 20-8, on goal as well 9-4, and led corner kicks 8-4. Senior Briget Wallace earned the win in net (5th season/career) and the shutout (3.5 season/career). The backline of Madi Dee, Kelsey Steed, Jenna Kelly, Porter Brown, and Baylee Sanders led the record breaking day shutting down long ball after long ball from the Wolves in the victory.
The ‘Cuse JV (5-3-2, 3-1-2) squad controlled a 1-0 victory on the road as well. Freshman Mia Hammond earned her 4th goal of the season off of an assist from Sophomore Courtnee Wright, her second of the season, to help the Titans to victory. Sophomore Brianna Daw earned the shutout in net (3rd season) and got the win in net (3rd season).
It was the third time in school history that the Titans have defeated the Silver Wolves, overall Fremont leads the series 3-16. The two teams will meet up again on the last day of Region play at Titan field, October 4th at 3:30 pm.
Syracuse now finishes the Region I turnaround 10-0 for the first time in school history and will prep for a difficult rematch against the Northridge Knights (3-6-1, 1-4-1) on the road Thursday at 3:30 pm. The knights and Titans played a 3-0 match earlier in the season. ‘Cuse leads the overall series against the Knights 10-8-2. The Titans will work hard to qualify for the 6A playoffs and defend their Region title on the second half of Region play.
