Titans defeat Fremont, continue winning streak

Exacting revenge was on the minds of the Syracuse high girls soccer team Tuesday afternoon at Titan Field. The Titans did just that thumping the visiting Fremont Silver Wolves (7-4-0, 6-3-0) by a score of 6-1.

The Titans (8-3-0, 6-3-0) avenged an earlier 1-3 loss in August, to continue their current winning streak through Region 1 play to 6 games.

4 different Titans scored on the day led by 3 goals from Junior midfielder Caroline Stringfellow. Stringfellow recorded her 10th career hat trick as a Titan (3rd of the season). Junior defender Baylee Sanders recorded her first game winning goal as a Titan (2 goals season/career), Senior midfielder Madison Yamashita recorded her first goal of her career as a Titan and Senior forward Ashlyn Hall finished the scoring for the day (14 season, 74 career).

3 different Titans had two assists in the game including; Freshman forward Abby Schofield (4 season/career), Junior Forward Sarah Wynn (9 season, 40 career) and Hall (12 season, 51 career). Stringfellow recorded her 12th assist of the season (60 career) and Sophomore midfielder Jaycee Page recorded her first career point with her assist.

The Titans out shot the Silver Wolves 26-8, putting more on frame 16-6. ‘Cuse led on corner kicks 6-1. Both teams were caught off sides once. Junior goal keeper London Ewing earned her 3rd career win in net. She recorded 5 saves on the day. 24 different Titans earned playing time in the win.

Sophomore Forward Mia Hammond paced the SHS JV team to a 2-1 victory with the brace. Hammond now leads the JV team in scoring with 6 goals. Tatum Williams recorded assists on both goals (3 season). Also recording assists were Sophomore defender Dani Steed (2 season) and Junior forward Courtnee Wright (team leader with 4 season).

Syracuse now plays the second game of the Highway 193 rivalry against the Clearfield Falcons (1-9-0, 0-9-0) Thursday afternoon. ‘Cuse defeated the Falcons 4-1 in the first meeting on the CHS football field. This is the 17th overall meeting between the two schools, with the Titans holding a 12-4 overall advantage. Varsity will be played at 3:30 with JV to follow after.
