The Syracuse Titans (10-3-0, 8-3-0 Region 1) put together a dominating performance at Sandridge park Tuesday afternoon, earning a 6-0 victory over the Roy Royals (2-10-1, 2-8-1).
Senior forward Ashlyn Hall paced the Titans with her 8th career hat trick (2nd season) in the win. Hall now has 19 goals on the season (79 career). Freshman midfielder Cortney Cobabe started the scoring for ‘Cuse with her 4th goal of the season and her second career game winning goal. Junior Forward Sarah Wynn knocked in her 6th goal of the season (26 career). Junior midfielder Caroline Stringfellow finished the scoring for the Titans (14 season, 65 career).
Caroline Stringfellow led the game in assists with 3 (65 career). Other assists came from Senior defender Madi Dee (1 season, 7 career), Senior defender Jenna Kelly (1 season, 5 career) and Hall (15 season, 52 career). The win & shutout was shared in net by Freshman Presley Whitesides (5.5 wins & 2.5 shutouts season/career) and Junior London Ewing (4.5 win & 1.5 shutouts season/career). The shutout was aided by the back line of Dee, Kelly, Senior Kelsey Steed, Junior Baylee Sanders and Senior Riley King.
The Titans out shot the Royals 24-5, putting more on frame 18-3. Freshman Abby Schofield and Hall led the team with 5 shots a piece, Hall led the team with 5 shots on frame. ‘Cuse led in corner kicks 6-1, the Royals had more off sides 2-1, and more fouls 6-3.
The Titan JV team (9-2-2, 7-2-2) had a great outing, beating Roy 7-1. Sophomore forward Mia Hammond led all goal scorers with the brace (JV leading 8 goals on the season). Other goals were put in by Sophomore midfielder Macyn Zimmerman (1st season), Sophomore midfielder Jaycee Page (4 season), Junior forward Virginia Wallace (3 season), Sophomore forward Autumn Hogan (2 season), and Junior forward Courtnee Wright (5 season).
JV assists were sent in by Freshman goalkeeper Madi Paulsen (2 season), Wallace (3 season), Page (4 season), Sophomore forward Skylee Hopkins (4 season), Zimmerman (3 season), Sophomore goalkeeper Kamry Kap (1 season), and Sophomore forward Tatum Williams (4 season).
The Titans host the league leading Northridge Knights (11-1-1, 9-1-1) at home this Thursday, September 26, at 3:30 pm. This is the 23rd overall meeting between the two schools. Syracuse holds a 12-8-2 advantage in the series. After the game the Titans will recognize their 9 Seniors; Kira Page, Ryland Rivera, Jordan Stimpson, Madison Yamashita, Ashlyn Hall, Riley King, Kelsey Steed, Madi Dee and Jenna Kelly.
